Attraction

Kongernes Jelling

The experience center Kongernes Jelling - Home of the Viking Kings is situated only a few steps from the Jelling stones, which were placed there, during the Viking Age, by the kings Gorm and Harald. The monument area is surrounded by a magnificent palisade built by Harald Bluetooth more than a 1000 years ago. In those days, the palisade was constructed with oak timber, but today it is visualized with white concrete poles in the area, created by landscape architect Kristine Jensen and artist Ingvar Cronhammar. Inside the palisade you will find the two runestones, Jelling church, the ship setting, as well as the two mounds. The monument area in Jelling is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thus appointed worthy of preservation. Take a walk in the midst of history and heritage and visit the Viking center where you will learn more about the Viking Age, the Danish monarchy and the Norse mythology.

Area

East Jutland

East Jutland offers you a wonderful combination of fertile landscape, expansive forests, sandy shorelines and bustling big cities.

The green and hilly landscape of the region was formed by the glaciers of the last glaciation. Valleys, gorges and deep fjords were all carved by the flow of glacial melt water.

You’ll find that East Jutland is easily accessible and full of varied, outdoor experiences. It's also home to Denmark's dynamic second city, Aarhus, Mols Bjerge National Park, Samsø and Vejle.

But you also find Søhøjlandet with Silkeborg and Skanderborg's lakes and forests as well as Legoland in Billund.
